After spending time with family and friends during a very relaxing winter break, it’s finally time to get back into the swing of things for ISM.
I started my first week back from break pretty strong. For that week's assessment, I decided to look into IPO underwriting. I found a good academic article that I could use for my assessment. I learned about how underwriting impacts vary in bubble and non-bubble periods, the screening process, marketing done by underwriters, and information production. Overall, I was able to gain a better understanding of the IPO process and how investment banks facilitate it.
My main goal for this month is to have my mentor. I have already been in contact with one of the professionals I interviewed, but I know I may need to be prepared with a backup plan if things do not work out.
While I am finished with my original work, my second semester of ISM will still remain somewhat the same. I will still need to continue working on research assessments and begin working toward another project, my final product. Only now, I will need to start doing mentor visits as my form of primary research.
